He performed onstage with Netrebko and Domingo in Berlin’s Waldbuhne and Vienna’s Schonbrunn Palace in 2006 and 2008, respectively. In Juliette or the Circle of Songes by Bohuslav Martinu, he made his stage debut. In the 2017 opera II ritorno d’Uliesse by Claudio Monteverdi, Rolando performed the role of Ulisse for the first time. He sang as Papageno at the Metropolitan Opera in New York once again in 2021. Most recently, in 2022, in Dmitri Tcherniakov’s new production of Richard Wagner’s Das Rheingold at the Berlin State Opera, he made his international debut as Loge. Christian Thielemann led the performance. He was appointed the festival’s creative director in 2018, and his agreement will end in 2028.
