Yetunde Price was the oldest half-sister of the famous tennis players Venus and Serena Williams. Among female athletes, the Williams sisters have undoubtedly had a significant impact.
Yetunde Price was a victim of a shooting massacre in Compton, California, in 2003. Price was murdered while chatting with her boyfriend in her SUV on the night of September 14, 2003.
Robert Edward Maxfield, a member of the Southside Compton Crips street gang, was convicted of Price’s murder. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison on April 6, 2006, but he was released in March 2018 after his sentence was reduced for good behavior.

Yetunde was the daughter of Oracene Price, a tennis instructor, and Yusef Rasheed. Their wedding date is uncertain, however they lived together until Rasheed’s death in 1979.
Yetunde was reared by her stepfather, Richard Williams, together with Venus and Serena. Following Yetunde, Oracene and Yusef had two daughters, Isha and Lyndrea Price. Isha is currently employed as an attorney, while Lyndrea is employed as a web designer.
Following the loss of her first husband, Oracene, and tennis coach Richard Williams formed a bond. Venus and Serena were born to the couple’s marriage in 1980. Both are world-class professional tennis players who have won numerous honors and titles.
Richard considered Price to be his own daughter, despite the fact that she was his stepdaughter. Along with Venus and Serena, he raised the Price sisters. Furthermore, the Williams sisters were really close to them.
Yetunde was also the Williams sisters’ personal assistant, for your knowledge. To celebrate the life and legacy of its namesake, they established The Yetunde Price Resource Center (YPRC) in 2016.
Yetunde Price’s Tragic Passing
Yetunde and her boyfriend were speaking in her SUV, which was parked outside a trap house in the Los Angeles County suburbs on September 14, 2003.
At the moment, members of the Compton street gang opened fire on the SUV, shattering a glass and hitting her in the back of the head. Price’s boyfriend indicated that he didn’t realize Price had been hit at first but subsequently noticed there was blood everywhere. She was pronounced dead at the hospital after suffering a bullet wound to the head.
Robert E. Maxfield, an alleged gang member, shot Price with 11 bullets from an assault rifle. He was condemned to 15 years in jail on April 6, 2006. He was released on parole on March 8, 2018, but was later detained again for allegedly violating his parole.
Yetunde was secretly buried in Hollywood Hills on September 19, 2003. She was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery five days after she was murdered. Price’s siblings, including his daughters Venus and Serena, attended the funeral.

According to reports, Price and her fiance had three children. She was survived by three sons: Jair Bobbitt, Jeffrey Jr., and Justus Bobbitt. Price worked as a registered nurse and ran a beauty business.
