The romance between the two Wicked Tuna opponents made headlines once the show’s ninth season premiere. Ott ultimately opened up about his personal life in the 9th season episode “Band of Brothers,” which aired on March 15, 2020.
The reality TV star announced that he has a girlfriend while introducing his new pet dog. He went on to say that he adopted the puppy with his partner, who happened to be his show’s competitor.
He never said much about his relationship with the show’s opponent until that March disclosure. He is a private guy who rarely discloses anything about his personal life, hence details on his personal life and relationship are few.
Even his social media accounts are dominated by photos of the show and his favorite dog.

Although Ott prefers to keep his personal life private, he isn’t afraid to express his love for McLaughlin. When the Wicked Tuna star learned that his partner had missed two monster fishes, he sought to cheer her up in one of the show’s episodes.
He rushed straight to the kitchen and prepared a wonderful sandwich for his lover. Following that, McLaughlin and her team caught two bluefin tunas, which helped them get to the top of the leaderboard.
In addition, the Hot Tuna captain’s admiration for his opponent is evident during his greenroom interview. During the confessional, he remarked that if he and his team kept catching huge fish and making good money, he would be able to buy his muse some nice gifts and even take her out for a romantic dinner.

Is there a wife for TJ Ott?
Rumors circulated in 2020 that the tuna hunter was already married, but not to McLaughlin, his girlfriend. Instead, Kristina Doellman was mentioned as his wife. It also stated that he and his wife exchanged wedding vows in 2016.
The announcement, however, turned out to be nothing more than a case of mistaken identity. Doellman married a man with the same name as the Wicked Tuna star. Regardless, given their closeness in recent posts, wedding bells may still be on the way for Ott and his fiancée.
