Rivers Cuomo, the frontman of the alternative rock band Weezer, has had a long and successful career in music. Since the release of their debut album, The Blue Album, in 1994, the band’s lineup has changed four times, although Cuomo has remained a continuous member and has been dubbed Weezer’s mastermind for his creative and lyrical creativity.
Cuomo is still going strong after over three decades in the music industry. In actuality, the band’s next album, OK Human, was released on January 29, 2021. While Weezer has had its fair share of ups and downs over the years, Cuomo has built a remarkable career for himself, with a net worth of $35 million.
‘OK Human’ Arrives Before ‘Van Weezer’
In 2019, Weezer promised two albums: Van Weezer and OK Human. Van Weezer was going to be released first of the two, but in January 2021, the sequence was altered. Cuomo explained to NME that OK Human is different from Weezer’s past albums because it focuses more on life’s insecurities, everyday activities, and the isolation imposed by the epidemic.
This record is about feeling alone, alienated, and secluded, and it’s just what we need right now. OK Human, according to the singer, is the worst type of album you could make before a stadium rock tour. As a result, it was decided to release it before Van Weezer, who is set to release their Hella Mega Tour on May 7, 2021.

‘OK Human’ is Not the Same as ‘The Blue Album’
Apart from being a pandemic-focused album, OK Human may also be considered an album that asks what it means to be human in the face of swiftly evolving technological advancements. Cuomo remarked that while writing OK Human, he found his fear of technological advancement. We can already tell that this record differs significantly from Weezer’s debut, The Blue Album.

Cuomo’s concerns about how technology is transforming us and the ramifications of that thought are expressed especially in ‘Screens,’ one of the album’s tunes. Given that The Blue Album helped define Weezer’s approach as being loaded with nerdy humor and cultural references, this is a new color for the band.
Cuomo is offering unreleased demos for sale
Cuomo is currently working on several projects, including the Hella Mega Tour. The Weezer frontman announced on December 8, 2020, that he would be selling 2,655 previously unpublished demos. The web market was part of his web development class’s final project, and it featured anything from Weezer CDs to Cuomo’s solo home demo collections, as well as other strange musings and sounds.
The demos are nearly 38 hours long and cost $9 each. Cuomo intends to expand the collection, which is currently in Dropbox format. You can also re-download without having to pay again once you’ve purchased it.
