Tim Stafford spent nearly five decades of his existence working professionally. He is a gifted composer who has written over 250 tracks. He was named IBMA Songwriter of the Year in 2014 and 2017. In addition to Blue Highway, he has worked as a studio guitarist with Willie Nelson, Kenny Chesney, Jorma Kaukonen, Jesse McReynolds, Benny Sims, Marty Raybon, Joe Isaacs, Ronnie Bowman, Charles Sawtelle, and many others.
Endless Line, his second solo record, was published on FGM Records in 2004 to critical acclaim. It was nominated for an IBMA award for Instrumental Recording of the Year in 2005. His second record, Just to Hear the Whistle Blow, was issued in July 2014, and his third, Acoustic Guitar, was released in September 2017.
In 2010, he co-wrote Still Inside: The Tony Rice Story, a novel about living icon Tony Rice. He also produced multiple award-winning recordings for artists such as Kenny Chesney, The Infamous Stringdusters (IBMA 2007 co-album of the Year), Knee Deep in Bluegrass, as well as the Acutab Sessions.
