Shelby Stanga is an American reality star who rose to prominence after appearing on the Discovery Channel’s Man vs. Wild with Bear Grylls in a post-Katrina episode in 2008.
Between 2009 and 2016, he appeared on the History channel’s Ax Men, a show that follows the lives of numerous logging crews.
Stanga also starred in the Ax Men spin-off episode The Legend of Shelby the Swamp Man in 2013.
Stanga’s Bio and Net Worth
Stanga was born in 1960 and raised in Bedico, Los Angeles.
When he was nine years old, he and his family relocated to the wetlands north of New Orleans.
He discovered his actual home amid the wetlands of New Orleans. The reality star spends days in the marshes with his cousins Kelly, Jimmy, Louis, Jhonny, and Richard.
Shelby made his first profitable haul at the age of 16 while working for a dredging company, dragging his first sinker cypress log on the Tangipahoa River.
His television career began when he served as a guide alongside Bear Grylls in Man vs. Wild.
After then, the 61-year-old television personality established a successful career for himself.
He reportedly earned $70,000 per episode while working on the series Ax Men and The Legend of Shelby the Swamp Man.
Stanga has an estimated net worth of $800,000, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Stanga’s Death is Rumored to Have Occurred as a Result of the Helicopter Crash
William Bart, the helicopter pilot for the Ax Men program, was killed in a helicopter crash in east Linn County near Detroit on September 16, 2013.
Bart was hauling lumber from the cutting area to a log deck in Idanha when the disaster occurred. The helicopter’s rotor blades reportedly malfunctioned on their own.
Following the disaster, there were allegations that Stanga was in the helicopter and killed as well. They were, however, all bogus.
An incident similar to this occurred in September 2016, when one of the show’s stars was killed in a car accident near his house in Port Angeles, Washington.
The incident also sparked conjecture about whether or not Stanga was involved in the collision. He was not involved, according to the answer.
Stanga is still alive and well. However, he currently has a very private life with his wife Donna.
Are ‘Ax Men’s Near-Death Experiences Real?
Accidents were a common topic in the television series Ax Men, which starred Shelby Stangas.
While recording stunning exploits, Stanzas had a couple of close calls with death. Multiple times, it appeared that the reality star enjoyed putting his life in jeopardy, which resulted in a slew of mishaps.
As a result, many viewers have accused the show’s creators of manufacturing the incidents, casting doubt on the show’s legitimacy.

“The show wasn’t too horrible when it originally aired, but it’s becoming too artificial and predictable,” one IMDb user wrote.
“It’s become so dumb and manufactured that it’s barely watching today,” another commented, “the only redeeming thing is Shelby.”
While the show’s legitimacy is frequently questioned, the show concluded its tenth season in September 2019.
Stages, on the other hand, did not appear in the 10th season despite being a regular cast member of the show since its 9th season in 2016.
