Sebastian Stan Could Play Young Luke Skywalker In “The Mandalorian” Taking a Closer Look at the Rumors

Sebastian Stan is most recognized for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Winter Soldier (MCU). Fans, on the other hand, have been clamoring for him to be cast as Luke Skywalker for years.

What began as a side-by-side photo comparison of Stan and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker has turned into a heated debate concerning Stan’s portrayal of the classic Star Wars character.

Stan has indicated an interest in the role, and Mark Hamill has praised the actor’s likeness to him in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Regardless of how popular the topic has become, the issue remains unresolved, especially since it is primarily the fans who have requested it.

Is Stan going to play Luke Skywalker?

The Mandalorian season 2 finale featured a young Luke Skywalker. The fact that Hamill was substantially involved in the action added to its uniqueness. To bring back the young Jedi, the show used de-aging special effects and a body double.

While many fans adored the scene, others thought Hamill’s de-aged appearance was unsettling. After pointing out the shortcomings in the original series, VFX artists at Corridor Crew reconstructed the sequence using different approaches and technologies.

But, putting aside the disagreement over the scene’s quality, there’s a high chance Stan will be cast as Luke Skywalker. To begin with, the next season of The Mandalorian is expected to feature more of Luke, as he has taken Grogu (Baby Yoda) under his wing. Given how difficult it would be to keep Hamill as Luke, it wouldn’t be unexpected to see Stan step in.

Nonetheless, the majority of the support for this casting campaign has come from fans, and Lucasfilm could select someone else for the role.

Stan Reminds Me of a Young Mark Hamill

For years, fans have been requesting that Stan be cast as Luke Skywalker. It all started when Morphy put a photo of Stan’s face on a headshot of Hamill from a Star Wars film.

People couldn’t stop talking about how similar they looked. The photograph quickly went viral, and many Star Wars enthusiasts demanded that Stan take over the role of the young Jedi.

Stan is a fantastic fit for the role of Luke, according to Hamill. The original Star Wars actor reacted to the similarity between him and Stan during a 2017 appearance on Good Morning America.

“He’s way too attractive to be compared to me,” I said at first. “Oh, that’s rather frightening,” I thought after they merged us. But he’s a fantastic actor… And I’d love to collaborate with him. I’d take the role of his father over his mother any day.

Before his appearance on Good Morning America, where he made an “I am your father” joke, Hamill sent out a funny tweet about it.
