After marrying his partner, Fatima Farheen Mirza, Sound of Metal singer Riz Ahmed has joined the ranks of married men.
The actor shocked the public when he announced his marriage on a podcast with Louis Theroux in January 2021. The actor intended to keep his nuptials a mystery by not publishing them on social media sites and not revealing many details in the podcast.
However, he then went on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon as a guest and cleared the air while talking about his wedding ceremony and his wife.
Fallon inquired about the rumours of Ahmed’s secret wedding, to which Ahmed responded,
“I guess because we live in a social media age, it’s like it’s a secret if we don’t get on a megaphone about it, it’s like it’s a secret.”
But I’m never sure how much sharing is excessive.
According to COVID’s safety requirements, the backyard wedding was super-intimate and socially distant. Due to the epidemic, just a few people were able to attend the wedding.
‘We performed it in a backyard, which is great in so many ways.’ ‘I believe the loveliest thing about it was that you didn’t have 500 aunts pinching your cheeks.’ Ahmed made a funny remark.
He also told how he met his gorgeous wife, novelist Fatima Farheen Mirza, in a cafe in New York while prepping for his role in Sound of Metal. Both of them were “jostling over the same laptop plug point” at the same table in the cafe. “Like a very modern way of meeting,” he explained, the two built a connection that finally blossomed into a lovely bond.

Along the way, the actor acknowledged his role in Sound of Metal for bringing a lot of positivity into his life, including meeting his wife for the first time and meeting others from the deaf community. He described the entire filming process as a “life-changing experience.”
On December 5, 2020, he posted a snippet from his film on Instagram, describing it as the most intensive and fulfilling creative experience of his life.
Fallon also praised the actor on his Gotham Award triumph for his performance in Sound of Metal. Ahmed said the role was challenging because he had to learn to play the drums and sign language at the same time. He stated that the process taught him “the genuine meaning of listening,” and that he felt “very strange” about receiving the award online.
