Mike Vitar was charged with Assault

Vitar has had his fair share of run-ins with the authorities; in 2016, he was charged with assault.

He risked substantial jail time after he and two coworkers, Eric Carpenter and Thomas Molnar, attacked a man during a Halloween night brawl.

According to reports, the 43-year-old and his companions approached and assaulted Samuel Chang, a 22-year-old graduate student who was handing out candy in a gated community.

The perpetrators accused him of giving out “drug-laced” candy, which was ultimately proven false.

Los Angeles firefighters also said Chang was under the influence of PCP (a type of drug). However, following extensive medical testing, they discovered no evidence of the substance in his system.

Chang, on the other hand, believes he smelt alcohol on the breath of at least one firefighter.

As they attacked him, one of them choked him and brutally beat him, causing him to go into cardiac arrest and have to be resuscitated.

Vitar was first released on a $30,000 bond before being charged with misdemeanor violence, which he did not contest.

As a result, the three were sued in criminal court for $7.2 million in damages.

Vitar was eventually sentenced to three months probation and 90 days of community service. He was also suspended for six months without pay.
