Joey was born on November 25, 1983, in Fulton County, Kentucky to Merlin and Alicia Chestnut. He is currently 34 years old, but he will turn 35 in November of this year. And if he throws a birthday party, he’ll probably eat the entire cake by himself.
The eating expert was not born to eat. He has a degree in civil engineering from San Jones State University and used to work in construction management before dedicating his full time to eating competitions.
After landing an eating gig while still an engineering student in 2005, he decided to keep it, and in 2011 he quit his job to become a full-time eater. The resignation is justified for all genuine reasons, as he is paid to eat and appears to have frequent earnings as the winner of several eating competitions.
Joey Chestnut’s Eating Records and Net Worth
It’s difficult to beat Joey in eating contests. If he loses, it must be a bad day for him.
Except for the first two years of the competition and in 2015/16, Joey holds the record for the longest winning contestant in Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. However, he defended his title in 2017 by gulping 74 hot dogs in ten minutes.
He has also eaten 182 chicken wings in 30 minutes, 141 hard-boiled eggs in 10 minutes, and 183 hamburgers in 8 minutes, among other things.
He has a sizable net worth of $900 million, the majority of which he earned as an eating contest winner. His engineering salary has made little contribution to his multimillion-dollar net worth.

Joey Chestnut Met an Eater Girlfriend Who Nearly Became His Wife
It’s no surprise that the foodie would be attracted to a woman who shares his passion for food.
He met fellow competitive eater Leslie Ricasa, and after a few years of dating, he proposed on the set of the 2014 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
As Leslie accepted the proposal to be his wife, the event became a winner-winner hot dog dinner for him, and he won the competition that year.
Maybe the couple couldn’t love each other as much as they loved eating. A year later, months before their wedding date, their engagement was doomed for good.
Joey’s promise to return to engineering once he has a family with a wife has not been fulfilled because he is still single until 2018.
