A slew of new technologies are set to disrupt the world on an unprecedented scale, according to Mastercard’s Raja Rajamannar.
“A tsunami of 24 technologies (from 3D printing to blockchain) is crashing down on us. Each of these technologies has the potential to disrupt marketing on its own.”
The financial service company’s chief marketing and communications officer has been named Advertising Person of the Year by the Ad Club of New York.
Raja Rajamannar: Career
Earlier in his career, Raja held several leadership roles during 15 years with Citigroup including Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer, Citi Global Cards; Chairman and CEO, of Diners Club North America; Regional Cards Director, EMEA; and Marketing & Sales Director, Citi Gulf Markets.
Before that, he spent seven years with Unilever in sales and product management roles. He began his career with Asian Paints in India.
Raja received a Master of Business Administration degree from the Indian Institute of Management, in Bangalore, India, and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India.
He has held C-level roles at firms ranging from Anthem to Humana and has overseen the successful transformation of several businesses.
Rajamannar has been the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of Mastercard for the last six years. He is also the current President of Mastercard’s Healthcare division.

Throughout his career, Rajamannar has won several awards, including the WFA Global Marketer of the Year in 2018 and Forbes 2018 Top 5 World’s Most Influential CMOs, top 5 “World’s Most Influential CMOs” by Forbes, top 10 “World’s Most Innovative CMOs” by Business Insider, and inductee to The CMO Club Hall of Fame.
He has also been recognized as one of AdWeek’s most tech-savvy CMOs. He recently assumed the honorary role of President of the World Federation of Advertisers.
Raja has also been recognized by the ANA Educational Foundation as the Marketer of the Year in 2019.
