With the Help of Her Daughter, Ottavia Busia Pays Tribute to Her Ex-husband Anthony Bourdain

Ottavia Busia-Bourdain, an Italian MMA fighter, pays tribute to her ex-husband, Anthony Bourdain, on Instagram. She was not formally divorced from Bourdain at the time of his death on June 8, 2018.

Ottavia had no ambitions of becoming famous or living a life in the spotlight when she was young.

She was born on July 11, 1978, as Ottavia Busia, and grew up on the Italian island of Sardinia. She, like every other resident of a fishing community, dreamed of normal life and trained to become a dentist.

However, as luck would have it, the 42-year-old moved to the United States in 2000 after meeting an Irish rock band. She began working at numerous restaurants to find financial stability.

She eventually obtained a job as the general manager of a Japanese restaurant called Geisha.

She married Anthony Bourdain in 2007

In 2006, Ottavia met Anthony Bourdain.

Eric Ripert, a mutual friend, set them together.

They began dating after a brief friendship and had a daughter, Ariane Bourdain, on April 9, 2007.

On April 20, 2007, more than a week after the birth of their daughter, the renowned chef and the MMA fighter married in an intimate wedding ceremony.

Ottavia’s marriage was her first, and Anthony Bourdain’s second. Anthony had previously married Nancy Putkoski in 1985; they divorced in 2005 after 20 years of marriage.

Ottavia pursued a career in Mixed Martial Arts and learned Jiu-Jitsu after the birth of Ariane.

However, Bourdain and Ottavia’s fortunes began to deteriorate.

Their marriage couldn’t endure with Anthony gone from home for more than 250 days a year due to professional obligations. As a result, the couple eventually agreed to separate amicably in 2016.

On Instagram, an ex-wife Pays Tribute to her Ex-husband

Ottavia made no statement upon her ex-death. husband’s Nonetheless, she finally broke her silence three days later, on June 11, 2018, with a poignant Instagram post.

Her daughter, Ariane, was featured front and center with her band, dedicating their songs to her father’s memories. Ottavia left a lovely remark in the caption, emphasizing how her daughter honored her father.

Today was our daughter’s concert. She was incredible. SO BRAVE AND STRONG. She was wearing the boots you had purchased for her. I hope you’re having a fantastic time on your trip. Regardless of where you are.

On his birthday, June 25, 2019, she released another nostalgic video of the “Gone Bamboo” author with his daughter. The video shows Bourdain swimming with a little Ariane on his shoulders.

Ex-husband Takes His Own Life

Both Ottavia and her ex-husband ended their divorce on good terms.

Following the split, Ottavia concentrated on her martial arts training, eventually becoming a member of an MMA roster. She also holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Renzo Gracie’s New York Academy.

Her ex-husband, on the other hand, began dating Italian actress Asia Argento.

Everything appeared to be going swimmingly until the news of Anthony’s suicide broke on June 8, 2018.

The chef was discovered hanging by a bath towel in the Alsace region of France, where he was filming No Reservations, his cuisine, and a travel show.

Ottavia and Anthony were legally separated but had not finalized their divorce.

So, following his death, she was named executor of his estate, while their daughter was entitled to his net worth, which was estimated to be $1.21 million.
