Opal Perlman is a Jamaican
Opal Stone was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica on August 8, 1951. Her mother was a dressmaker who owned her own shop in their hometown.
Stone was drawn to fashion as a child, growing up in her mother’s store and surrounded by lush tropical beauty. It’s no surprise that fashion led her to the United States, where she attended Parsons School of Design in New York City.
She was inspired by her home country’s culture and fell in love with American couture, launching her career as a couturier in Los Angeles.

Stone and Perlman are The Parents of Two Children
On Valentine’s Day 1981, Perlman and Stone married. They now have two adult children, Blake Amanda Perlman (born 1984) and Brandon Avery Perlman (born 1990).
Blake is a singer and actress who appeared in StartUp and Hellboy II alongside her father. She’ll be seen in the upcoming Hulu drama Reprisal, which will premiere in December 2019.
