Facts About Motorsports Icon Ken Miles Son Peter Miles

Ford v Ferrari, starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon, was one of the year’s most critically acclaimed blockbusters. Bale played Ken Miles, a motorsports legend who died in a car accident in 1966.

The film depicted car designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) paying a visit to Miles’ widow and son after his death. Peter Miles, Ken Miles’ son, made significant contributions to the biopic, assisting Bale in his preparation for the role. Our Peter Miles wiki delves into his life since the tragic death of his father.

Miles is in Charge of Chip Connor’s Car Collection

Peter Miles carried on his father’s passion for motorsports in his own life.

Following his father’s untimely death, Peter went to work for his father’s friend Dick Troutman at the Troutman and Barnes custom car shop in Culver City, California. He spent 14 years there before moving to Precision Performance Inc. in 1986.

Peter began as a fabricator and worked his way up to mechanic and crew chief. When off-road racing legend Ivan “Ironman” Stewart won the Nissan 400 in Nevada in 1991, he was the crew chief.

Peter Miles is a regular at car shows, particularly in California. He posed in the GT40 his father drove at Le Mans in 1966 last year.

Peter now lives in Monterey, California, as the executive administrator of billionaire Chip Connor’s vast vintage car collection. The collection is estimated to be worth $80.0 million.

Christian Bale got into character for the Ford v Ferrari film with the help of Peter Miles, who published a photo book about his father.

“I gave Christian Bale information about my father from press clippings and magazine articles, as well as personal photos and audio recordings.” Bale wanted to be as loyal to my father as possible. “I also met Caitriona Balfe and showed her photos of my mother and described her as best I could,” Peter said.

Ken Miles’ Fatal Crash Was Witnessed By Peter Miles

Peter Miles was born on September 28, 1950, to Ken and Mollie Miles. When Peter was a month shy of his 15th birthday, he witnessed his father’s death in a fiery crash.

On August 16, 1966, a young Peter, who idolized his father, and car designer Carroll Shelby were at Riverside Raceway in Southern California, as seen in Ford v Ferrari.

Ken Miles was putting the Ford “J Car” through its paces before it could be considered for a debut at the famous Le Man’s race the following year.

Ken Miles and the car caught fire seconds later…

The pro driver was killed instantly in the crash. Shelby visits Peter and Mollie a few weeks after Ken’s death, but the film never explains what happened.

The accident is thought to have been caused by a mechanical failure rather than by driver error.

Only in 2019 did Peter Miles reveal that he had returned to Le Mans for the first time since 1965, the last time with his father.

Miles’ Daughter Gets Married at The Grammys

Miles and his wife, Somerset resident Patti Montgomery Miles, have a daughter, Jaime Miles.

Jaime and her then-fiance, Jeff Moore, were among the 33 straight and gay couples who married at the 2014 Grammy Awards.

You may recall Queen Latifah officiating the weddings of the 33 couples, which included Jeff and Jaime. At the wedding, Madonna, Mary Lambert, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performed. Boyz II Men sang the first dance at the Grammy After Party.

The couples were all asked to keep the wedding ceremony private. And, according to Peter Miles and the other parents, Jeff and Jaime married without their families present.

Jeff Moore announced the news on social media the day before the Grammys, encouraging viewers to tune in. Following the Grammy ceremony, the couple intended to host a reception for their family and friends.

Jeff Moore was a radio producer at KFMB 760 at the time, and Jaime Miles (now Moore) was a teacher-in-training. The couple has a child together.

Jaime appears to have quit her job as a preschool teacher to devote her time to motherhood. Jeff is still in the radio broadcasting business.
