Kristen Wiig, a former Saturday Night Live cast member, virtually returned to her old haunts for the show’s season 45 finale.
The comedian dropped some major pregnancy hints ahead of Mother’s Day during the at-home broadcast. Since then, SNL viewers and Wiig fans have speculated about whether Kristen Wiig and her fiancé Avi Rothman are expecting a child together.
The couple has mostly kept their relationship private, relying on a spokesperson to speak on their behalf the majority of the time. That, of course, raises questions about Wiig’s future husband. Check out our Avi Rothman wiki while we wait for potential baby news from them during this period of self-isolation.
Avi Rothman Grew up in California with a Jewish Family
Abraham Rothman was born on October 20, 1977, to Dr. Ronald Rothman and Lilyana Rothman. Avi and his older siblings, Ilan, Sarita, and Yehudit, were raised in a Jewish family in Costa Mesa, California.
Dr. Rothman was born in New York to parents who had immigrated to the United States from Transylvania, Romania. World War II broke out when Ron was four years old, and he lost most of his extended family in concentration camps.
For his residency, Ron relocated to California, where he met and married Lilyana. They raised their children in Costa Mesa after serving in the Peace Corps.
Ilan Rothman, Avi’s eldest brother, studied medicine at the University of Chile. He now works as an anesthesiologist in Portland, Oregon. Sarita, his sister, studied art in Jerusalem. Yehudit, his brother, studied psychology at USC.
Avi graduated from Costa Mesa’s Estancia High School. The Rothman family, including Avi, is currently involved in the local Jewish community. Avi’s acting workshops and interviews are even advertised in the local newspapers.

Rothman is a Comedic Actor and Film Director
The actor, writer, producer, and director is a multi-hyphenate entertainer. However, Avi Rothman’s roots are in comedy, having trained with the renowned improv troupe The Groundlings. Kristen Wiig is a Groundlings alum as well.
His family was one of the influences that led him to pursue a career in comedy.
“I guess I was always attracted to comedy ever since I was a kid,” Rothman said of what drew him to comedy. I remember imitating my grandparents… I believe many people in my family had good senses of humor… My brother, who is ten years my senior, was always making me laugh. He always seemed to be able to find humor in a variety of situations.”
Working with a writer/director in his high school’s annual sketch show influenced Rothman’s decision to pursue a career in comedy. His resume now includes several short films and TV appearances, including works he co-created with director Oren Kaplan, such as Bunion, Ogden: The Inappropriate Yoga Guy, and Modern Day Jesus.

His career grew in lockstep with the rise of YouTube, which inspired Rothman and his friends to create web comedy series.
Rothman and Wiig Wed in 2019
Kristen Wiig of Saturday Night Live was previously married to actor Hayes Hargrove. After their divorce in 2009, the actress-comedian stated that she did not intend to marry again. But after meeting Avi Rothman, Wiig changed her mind.
When PDA-filled photos of the couple’s Hawaiian vacation surfaced online in 2016, the world first learned about their relationship. According to sources close to the comedic duo, they had been dating for a few months at the time.
Wiig and Rothman got engaged in 2019 after dating for three years. And now there’s talk that they’re expecting their first child together.
Wiig’s recent SNL finale at-home segment seemed to imply that she is pregnant. Wiig and Rothman have not confirmed the news.
