Theresa Roemer has been an entrepreneur since she was a child. With many businesses, Theresa Roemer, LLC’s CEO was only known to a tiny group of people in Houston. That was until her half-million-dollar, one-of-a-kind closet grabbed headlines. The 59-year-old has created her own lifestyle business with a chain of fitness clubs.
The ‘Biggest’ Closet In The United States
Her spouse and the Colorado State University graduate formerly had a three-story, 17,315 square-foot mansion. The home included a master bedroom, master bathroom, nine guest bedrooms, a large swimming pool, a wine tasting room, kitchens, dining rooms, a gym, and a theater, among other features. The fascinating aspect of the mansion, though, was Roemer’s closet.
The closet itself was three stories high and 3,000 square feet in size, with the mansion’s floors connected by a white spiral staircase. The “woman cave,” which was estimated to be valued at over half a million dollars, contains over a million dollars worth of clothing, shoes, beauty, and other items.
She eventually used her well-established platform to start NI30D Athletics, a workout apparel line. She continues to work on building her business even now.
My closet serves as a dressing area, but it also serves as a getaway. It’s what I like to refer to as my ‘female man cave.’ †Harper’s Bazaar called Theresa’s closet “the biggest” in the country, and with good reason. The closet contained a salon section, a champagne bar, and a mannequin wearing a $10,000 Oscar de la Renta gown, in addition to being a wonderland of shoes, dresses, and accessories.

Roemer had been robbed
With all of the valuable items in the estate, the entrepreneur and her husband had installed theft alarms and locks. Roemer and her larger-than-life closet were robbed in August 2014, just a month after they became viral.
The Roemers’ home was broken into while they were away for dinner, and it happened on an unlucky day when they neglected to put on the alarms and lock the closet. This resulted in a massive robbery with losses of over a million dollars. The socialite was traumatized by the theft of her jewelry, watches, and handbags. The culprit was never apprehended, adding to Roemer’s suffering, and they eventually chose to move away, listing the house for sale.
The couple finally sold their massive property in September 2020, with the fitness enthusiast planning to create an even bigger closet.
This house was never intended to be a home for me and my children to share. It was always going to be a flip house. I’d like to build another one with a larger closet.”
From Fitness Centers to Real Estate, Roemer’s Business Career Timeline
The now-wealthy businesswoman was once just a regular farm girl. But it was Roemer’s work ethic that set her apart from her contemporaries. She was always looking for ways to get additional money, whether it was delivering newspapers or mowing lawns.
The Nebraska native was resolved to be active, healthy, and physically fit after being diagnosed with a heart murmur that would limit him for the rest of his life. That’s how she came up with the idea for Body by Design, her fitness club, in 1991. In just nine years, a fantasy project that began in Wyoming has expanded to five locations.
By October 2004, the socialite and her husband, Lamar, had teamed together to become the COO of Roemer Oil. She exploited her real estate talent and became an agent with Beth Wolff Real Estate GMAC less than two years later, in May 2006.
Her hard work didn’t end there. She debuted her brand Theresa Roemer LLC “True and Real” in August 2010. She continues to work on building her business even now.
With a big oil firm, real estate acquisitions, and all of her other business ventures, she has a substantial bank account. Her net worth is estimated to be $15 million, according to Wealthy Persons.
