They ended their relationship similarly after dating for nearly twenty years. However, their relationship drew public notice after Key filed a $2 million lawsuit in a Miami court for the rights to the name of her program, Caso Cerrado.
After roughly two years of separation, Key legally requested a fair partition of their firm, The Key To Polo Enterprises, as well as the right to the name of the famed program.

While Key became loud about her case, Polo remained silent, just like she has been about her sexuality. The legal analyst has never admitted to being a lesbian or spoken about her LGBT connection.

The 62-year-old works for Emmanuel Perez & Associates, P.A., a law company in Coral Gables, Florida. After gaining legal expertise, she launched her Spanish-language court show, Case Cerrado, in 2001.
The show, which aired on Telemundo, was an instant success. It was the first program from a Spanish-language network to be nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 2010. The program will celebrate its 20th anniversary in April 2021.
The television host also wrote a book based on the letters she received for the show, titled ‘Dear Dr. Polo: The Secret Letters of Cased Closed.’
