In 1980, the Good Day New York anchor earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
She began her work after college at WTBS, Ted Turner’s UHF television station in Atlanta. She was a reporter for two local programs at the time, as well as an associate producer for the station’s evening newscast.
Scotto secured a job as a correspondent for WABC’s Live with Regis and Kathie Lee not long after (previously known as Good Morning New York). She joined Witness News a year later and served on the show until 1986, when she joined WNYW FOX 5 News.

Scotto joined the Fox 5 morning show Good Day New York as a new co-host in 2008. In fact, Jodi Applegate, who co-hosted Good Day New York with Greg Kelly until the late 2000s, left the show in September 2008, allowing the New York native to take her place.
Kelly and Scotto had a lot of fun anchoring together and had a lot of success. Greg Kelly made his final appearance on Good Day New York on September 29, 2017, after nine years as a co-host.
