On November 4, 1974, in Great Neck, New York, the anchor of CNBC’s Fast Money was born. She is of Chinese and American ancestry. Her grandfather, who had Chinese ancestors, moved to the United States with his wife and children. Lee’s father then married a native American and welcomed her into their family.
“I went to Chinese school on weekends, but my parents wanted my sister, brother, and me to assimilate, which was usual at the time,” Lee said in a May 2015 interview with the Asia Society on her childhood and Chinese ancestry. “On the downside, my Chinese is practically non-existent.”
