Mads Mikkelsen is a Copenhagen-born Danish actor who began his career in 1996.
When he made his cinematic debut in 1996, he shot to prominence in Denmark. He portrayed a drug dealer in Nicolas Winding Refn’s critically praised film Pusher, which spawned two sequels. In Danish films, he continued to perform characters that were easy to overlook.
Mikkelsen starred alongside Kim Bodnia in Nicolas Winding Refn’s Bleeder in 1999, and he also collaborated with Stine Stengade and Jana Plodková in Ole Christian Madsen’s award-winning film Prague in 2006.
In 2011, he starred in another box-office hit, ‘The Three Musketeers,’ which received mixed reviews from critics. He did, however, star in The Hunt, for which he was nominated for Best Actor at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
Mikkelsen also acted in the Arctic, a survival thriller directed by Brazilian filmmaker Joe Penna, which was released in 2018. He also joined Doug Liman’s Chaos Walking cast. As can be seen, his career is flourishing, and he is still as relevant and in demand as ever.
