Laurence Allen Elder, better known by his stage name Larry Elder, is a well-known American radio broadcaster, writer, and attorney based in Los Angeles, California. He is well-known for his logical debunking of many of the falsehoods and hypocrisies that abound in our political system, culture, and media.
Elder, who has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, has hosted the longest-running afternoon drive-time radio show in Los Angeles, The Larry Elder Show, since 1994.
After attending Washington Preparatory High School and graduating from Crenshaw High School, he earned a J.D. (Juris Doctor) from the University of Michigan Law School in 1977. In 1974, he graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in Political Science.
In the early 1990s, Elder married
Larry Elder used to be married. For two years, the conservative talk radio presenter was married to a physician who also happened to be a lifelong acquaintance.
Their marriage ended in 1994 because his ex-wife wanted children, but he was opposed to the idea. His aversion to having children was most likely due to a tense connection with his father as a child, as many people believe. And that snuffed out his desire to start a family of his own.
Elder reportedly became engaged to Alexandra Datig, a fellow political analyst and actress, after his divorce from his ex-wife.
Datig, who had a history of prostitution, is now a political pundit for Front Page Index. She has also appeared on Fox News, ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, C-SPAN, Newsmax, and OAN over the years.
Elder and Datig’s relationship, however, was short-lived, as their purported engagement did not lead to marriage. They didn’t even feel the need to reveal that they had been engaged at some point in their lives.
He Mentioned His Girlfriend Frequently on Twitter
Following the engagement rumors with Datig, the elder enjoyed his private life and didn’t announce his relationship status in public for several years. In the 2010s, when social media had greatly grown, the Larry Elder Show presenter frequently mentioned his girlfriend on social media platforms. To be more specific, he implied on Twitter a few times that he was no longer married but had a girlfriend.
One Twitterati declared her love for him on February 11, 2017, but advised him not to inform his wife. She wrote, “I adore you, Larry, don’t tell your wife, lol.”
In response, he revealed that he was not married but did have a girlfriend.

Elder was born in Los Angeles on April 27, 1952, as the second of his parents’ three boys. Kirk (b. 1949 – d. 2019) and Dennis (b. 1949 – d. 2019) are his siblings (b.1954).
Viola Conley Elder, Elder’s mother, rose to fame after appearing on his nationally syndicated radio talk show, The Larry Elder Show. He used to call her the “Chief Justice” with affection. She died on June 13, 2006, in Los Angeles, at the age of 81. As a result, Elder’s father worked in a variety of professions for a living, including as a cook in the US Marine Corps during WWII, as a shoeshine boy, and as a hotel bellhop. He eventually used his funds to build his Cafe near Downtown Los Angeles, which he successfully ran for 30 years.

He was the most dedicated worker I’ve ever met. That was the person I looked up to. My father was never at home, and when he was, he was grumpy. He had a work ethic that surpassed all expectations.
He Had a Quarrel With His Father
For almost ten years, the University of Michigan Law School alum had his share of disagreements with his father. The explanation for this is that Elder had a special relationship with his father as a child. He used to think his father was chilly, irritable, and thin-skinned when he was younger.
To make matters worse, Elder and his father had little contact. His father didn’t talk much about himself, which is why Elder couldn’t comprehend him.
Elder claims that he was always afraid of his father and that at the age of 15, he eventually stood up to him and didn’t speak to him for ten years.
Later, when he had the opportunity to communicate with his father, he gained a new perspective on him and authored the best-selling book ‘Dear Father, Dear Son,’ which reflected on their past and current dynamics.
In the book, Elder describes his father as a disciplined day-to-day man with a straightforward outlook on life. In a June 2016 interview with WND following his father’s death at the age of 96, he said, “He didn’t consider his life to be epic. He didn’t consider his life to be very challenging.”
“What’s unusual about that?” he asks. “He just thought of his life as a product of someone who got up in the morning worked hard, and didn’t make a bunch of excuses.”
“It was remarkable to me that my father didn’t think his life was noteworthy,” he continued.
Elder’s father, who had a hard-earned reputation for running a thriving cafe in Los Angeles, passed away at the age of 96.
