Even though Gillian has remained silent when it comes to discussing her personal life, she does appear to mention her fiance, Alex, in a few of her Twitter posts.

She does, however, refer to him as “my fiance” in a handful of her Tweets. Her “fiancée” tweet made headlines for the first time in September of 2015. Gillian shared Alex’s feelings about American novelist Elizabeth Gilbert in a tweet. “My fiancé believes she’s like #StarWars for ladies!” Gillian wrote. Gillian uploaded a selfie with Alex, with whom she attended a wedding of a mutual acquaintance, a few months later, in November of the same year. Gillian clutched him in the photo, posing for the camera.

The two were in Simon’s Town, South Africa, for a mutual friend’s wedding. Simon’s Town is home to the South African Navy and is located close to Cape Town. Furthermore, in August 2016, Gillian responded to a tweet from one of her Twitter fans who asked whether she wanted to adopt two Cocker Spaniels. Gillian responded to the request by writing that, while she would love to have the two creatures join her family, her fiance would not accept because they already share a pet.
She even implied that if she brought another pet into the household, Alex would abandon her. “I would love nothing more,” Gillian wrote, “but my fiancée would leave me if we got another.”
So, based on the post, it’s safe to assume that the couple lives together and has a pet.
In October of 2016, Gillian posted that Alex had been on the phone with Xfinity, the cable and internet service provider, for hours, making her feel like her life was “unraveling,” adding to her string of Tweets about her fiance.
Gillian, who celebrates her birthday every year on September 6th, published a photo of herself in her newsroom a few months later, in December 2016, as she welcomed 2017 with open arms. Gillian was photographed with a band on her ring finger that seemed to be an engagement ring.
