Brandon began his musical career after playing the role of Royal in Encores!. He later went on to star in many Broadway Musicals productions, including The Color Purple and Eubie Blake.

Brandon then played Haywood Patterson in the musical The Scottsboro Boys (2010), for which he received a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Musical. Dixon received tremendous acclaim and accolades for his performance as Aaron Burr in the Broadway show Hamilton in 2016.

Dixon is also a producer, having co-founded WalkRunFly Productions. Hedwig and the Angry Inch won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 2014.

Brandon just transitioned from Broadway to live television as Judas in the award-winning live concert musical “Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert” in 2018.
